Andrew Leadbetter 1943-2022

Sadly, Andrew Leadbetter of Stafford Chess Club has passed away on the same day as the late Queen. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Andrew was WDCL President for four years in two spells from 1979 and then again in 1983. He was our long time ECF representative for three decades but will also be remembered as the long serving Grading officer in times when everything was done by hand. He was a long serving member of the league and won the Bidgood Trophy in 2006-07. At Stafford Chess Club he was the centre of organisation and Captaincy for many decades and his loss will be particularly hard felt there. The funeral is to be held at St Paul’s Church, Lichfield Road, Stafford at 9.30am on Wednesday 28th September.   All welcome.
