Michael Zubacz 2002

Michael first learned to play chess as a prisoner of war in Poland during the second world war. He then came to this country after the war and settle in Wolverhampton, playing chess for the Ukranians from 1955 to 1958.

He then moved to Cannock but didn't play chess for many years until he joined St Mary's Cannock in 1998. He played in both the Wolverhampton and Cannock leagues for his club. He was a staunch supporter of his clubs internal tournaments. He also represented Staffordshire.

Michael leaves a wife 2 children and 3 grandchildren who he thought the world of.

Michal was very special to the Cannock club and the members will miss him.

On behalf of the league we send our sincere condolences to his family and his club.
